Cleaning
Droppings on the bedding easy should be removed daily with a hand broom. This is very quick and the animals immediately have a cleaner living environment. The 'feel test' (e.g. with a paper towel) shows whether the surface of the bedding easy is still nice and dry. Depending on how dirty the mat is, it can easily be replaced with a new one and washed at 60° in the washing machine.

Tips
The molton tends to shrink a bit after the first wash. That is not a problem, because the amount of molton has taken that into account. Due to the extra amount of molton, the fleece and molton still fit perfectly in the cage after washing.
Reshape the mat after washing.
